RMD Bristol was established in 2017 and is now the second largest centre for peer-delivered basic life support training in the UK.
In the first 5 years, RMD Bristol has trained approximately 1500 students as BLS providers, 250 students as BLS instructors and 50 students and student alumni as BLS instructor Trainers.
The team at Bristol is passionate about developing students as educators and researchers, and supports a number of education research and innovation projects annually. Members of the RMD Bristol team are also involved in outreach activities, training members of the public life saving skills on Restart a Heart Day, open days and more. Recently members of the team worked with the University to facilitate the installation of new 24h-access defibrillators across the central university campus.
The scheme is collaboratively run by a faculty of senior medical students and staff, with oversight from scheme director Dr Sarah Allsop.
RMD Bristol is based at the UHB Education and Research Centre at University Hospitals Bristol site
